Antique Twenty Dollar American Liberty Head Gold Coin (SOLD)
Antique Twenty Dollar American Liberty Head Gold Coin (SOLD)
This beautiful antique coin was designed by James B. Longacre, chief engraver of the Mint of the United States. Interesting to note that after the 1840s a larger denomination coin than the Ten Dollar piece, was authorized by Congress and the Twenty Dollar Liberty Head Double Eagle was struck. The California Gold rush brought large amounts of bullion to come east. This substantial coin of 22KT Gold with a weight of 33.8 Grams has a warm and golden patina. Large in scale at 30mm wide by 31mm in height including the custom bale. Perfect to be worn on a long chain and equally as beautiful with the double eagle on the rear or the profile Liberty Head on the obverse. 1904. A beautiful addition to any jewelry wardrobe. Coins are always in style. (Photo is of the largest coin on the bottom of the stack of necklaces) Add one of our beautiful chains to complete the look!
