Exceptional and rare are two words that come to mind when you see this exquisite piece of jewelry history. Impeccable condition and unparalleled workmanship define this period of jewelry. Dating to the late 1700s this 18KT Gold, enamel, ruby, emerald and diamond heart locket reflects the period with such refined detail. The heart shape which does not have the cleft at the center(that design detail came later) is crowned with a rich ruby, diamond and emerald crown signifying fidelity or loyalty. Ribbons of white and gold enamel border the heart along with rich rubies and emeralds adding to the design. This piece was clearly crafted for someone quite special. It is in pristine condition with the original rock crystal front and back. The rear opens to allow for a special photo or keepsake on both sides. I've added a later 16 inch 14KT rolo chain. Not marked but tested 18KT Gold. 26mm height from top of bale to base of heart by 14mm wide.
